| 2007-12-12 | Posted By: Robin Getz SPAM forging postmaster@blackfin.uclinux.org We have recently seen some SPAM for someone in South Korea, who have been sending emails which look like: > Dear user of blackfin.uclinux.org, > > We have received reports that your account has > been used to send a large amount of unsolicited > email messages during the last week. > > Probably, your computer was compromised and now > runs a trojan proxy server. > > We recommend that you follow our instructions in > the attachment in order to keep your computer > safe. > > Have a nice day, > The blackfin.uclinux.org team First - We would *never* send emails like that - if we thought you were sending spam - we would add you to the blacklist. No questions, no emails. Second - we would never assume you were running Windows as a host operating system, and would never include a exe or zip file. (Duh!) Third - never - ever - run attachments from anyone that you where not expecting. Don't ever expect attachments from us. Thanks for your understanding. -Robin |

| 2007-10-18 | Posted By: Robin Getz New processor support in kernel We have recently checked in support for the BF54x and BF52x devices into the Linux kernel and uClinux-dist svn repositories, supporting ADI's initial development hardware (the EZKit), for people to download, and start testing. http://www.analog.com/en/prod/0,2877,BF548%252DHARDWARE,00.html http://www.analog.com/en/epHSProd/0,,BF527-HARDWARE,00.html While the Linux kernel boots, and userspace is there, not all drivers for on-chip peripherals are ready. As always - there may be hardware on the EZKits with no Linux drivers. It is expected that things will improve over time, and they both will be in the next release (2007R2 or 2008R1 - if we can get a release out before Dec), however, during the release testing, either or both may be marked as experimental (not for production products) or removed completely - as determined by their stability/completeness at that time. If you are willing to be on the bleeding edge, we would appreciate any feedback you could give us on the kernel for 54x and 52x. |

| 2005-06-09 | Posted By: Maggie Nakhla Blackfin optimizations for Speex Jean-Marc Valin author of Speex, (open-source speech codec suitable for voice over IP - http://www.speex.org/) has done some Blackfin/uClinux optimizations: http://svn.xiph.org/trunk/speex/libspeex/filters_bfin.h The result is that it now takes ~8.9% of the CPU to do one channel in real-time at 15 kbps, compared to 19% when he started. Running at complexity 2 (not necessary, but does increase sound quality) with around 13% CPU utilization. This is based on a uClinux kernel running at 495MHz CCLK and 99MHz SCLK. To get a copy of this work in progress, have a look at: http://www.xiph.org/svn.html To try things out, all you need to do is: ./configure --enable-blackfin-asm --enable-fixed-point --host=bfin-uclinux make |
